Exporing Garden Worlds In Miniature!

Okay okay yes we have given in! Being a creative gardener and growing up with miniature soldiers and farm sets creating miniature worlds in my mothers gardens I have succumbed to the fantasy land and collecting of miniature accessories and gardening to create detailed worlds scaled down! I think if it as like creating a model railroad or accessorizing a fish tank, where attention to small details is what it's all about. 

 

It goes the same for the scale of the plant. Leaves size has a key roll in creating a believable miniature world. Small needled evergreens and ivies are perfect for this type of new container gardening. 

With the growing lack of space especially in urban homes its a no brainer that miniature gardens are taking off as a new trend in the gardening world. Fairy gardens, gnome gardens, bonsai and the like are hot and for good reason. In one good sized pot one can create a total world of ones choosing!

Seeing the now passing trend of terrariums and watching miniature gardens rise has been for sure an interesting turn.

 

With the popularity and hit book published by the timber press publication Miniature Gardens it's no surprise in the fun that be can had in these tiny landscapes.

Not only are there dainty chairs and tables but scaled down chicken coops, arbors, bird baths and even almost microscopic terra- cotta pots; that yes we have been potting up with moss and succulents. 

So here is a look at some simple tiny landscapes we created for your viewing. We are planning on a slew of summer workshops around this subject for the upcoming summer and a huge fairy garden bash! It's fun, and either a child or established gardener can appreciate them. So here are a few samples of compositions we put together just for you!

Here is a miniature plant stand with micro terra cotta pots all into miniature scale. Below a tiny bistro set complete with birdhouse hidden in the "bushes" of evergreens and ferns.

Here we created a tiny farm setting with a chicken coop and composition of a farm hand doing some chores around the garden.

Some other fun accessories include the collum with a tiny moss pot above and the little mushrooms below, all perfectly scaled for your miniature world.

Here we have a rustic woodland set landscaped in the same feel in one of our big rope rimmed pots. Tiny vines are being trained on the trellis and baby ferns complete the calming dish garden.

Here we got a little creative and created a desert landscape in a shallow glass container outfitted with weathered chairs, a picnic table, and tiny pots of succulents.

The dwarf agaves planted add scale as if they were actual giants out in the desert.

 

Here we created another shady and comfortable miniature garden complete with a small pond and tiny stepping stones. You can begin to see how ones imagination can really start running and did we mention it is so much fun!
