SHF Collection: A Maine Picnic

Whether your visiting Maine this summer or live here in "Vacationland" be sure to swing by our shop for all your unique picnic essentials. We have everything from blueberries to blankets and fresh produce to goose down pillows.... so here are 3 picnic collections we put together just for you.

Picnic In A Orchard: Clockwise from top; A handcrafted Peterboro basket is filled with beeswax candles and raw honey from owner Tony's Ward Brook Farm. Locally made glass mason jar sip cups made by our close friend and craftsman Mr. Dusty. Wrought iron ants can add a total whimsical charm to any picnic. Nigel Slater's book, "Ripe" has perfect recipes you can read about after a long day spent in the orchard. Our hand-woven tea towels complete the picnic and don't forget your essential big brimmed garden hat to shield from the harsh sun. This whole scene is set on a beautiful beige Kikoy cloth that we are all so fond of here at SHF.

Picnic At The Sea: From top right we offer great hanging chalkboards for listing menus or directing your guests to your picnic. Porcelain berry baskets are perfect for harvesting and offering your own Maine blueberries or foraged finds. A delicate but colorful oyster plate set on a roped napkin screams sea side dinning. Our new blue-rimmed enamelware series is essential to any seaside picnic and the blue pierced ceramic lantern sets the mood. It is all set on a hand-blocked dyed indigo tablecloth.

Roadside Picnic: From top left begin the day with our rosewood handled shears and a hand-woven gathering basket and harvest some fresh roadside flowers. You can then serve your lunch on majolica shell shaped dishes and a tiered ceramic leaf plate. Lemonade or iced tea could be served beautifully out of one of our generous French white pitchers. We also offer even more ceramics from the exclusive line for SHF from Hort And Pott including hand-thrown bowls and one of a kind functional leaf pieces. Wicker wrapped candles complete the day and you could cuddle up on a goose down filled locally sewn pillow on another Kikoy cloth. This one dyed in deep green with unique plaid edges.

As you can see this is just a little sampling of all that we have to offer here in our shop at Snug Harbor Farm. We hope you enjoy your first picnic this season wherever you are and we would love to help you make it even that more special! Happy Summer from all of us here at SHF!
