Book Of The Month: Jamie At Home

Our July Book of The Month is Jamie At Home, Cook Your Way to the Good Life by Jamie Oliver. It's no wonder why we picked this book, with all the abundant Maine produce available now here on the farm and Jamie's aesthetic and killer recipes make it the perfect pair.

This colorful 408 page book is smartly separated by seasons and then segmented by ingredients. Everything from lamb, eggs and rhubarb to tomatoes and squash followed by a few excellent recipes. Jamie's aesthetic is taken a step further throughout the book with tips on how he grows his tomatoes to where to forage for wild mushrooms to starting a BBQ. It's just putting the farm to table idea to heart in such a thoughtful way.

I have been using this cook book for years and everything I make from it pleases the crowd, including the smashed peas and fava bean toast, pictured above, to grilled steaks with smoked beets and cottage cheese dressing.
So if your around the Kennebunks this summer or fall be sure to stop buy the shop here at SHF pick up some produce and eggs, grab Jamie's book and create a memorable meal for your friends and family.

  1. Harvest is the perfect time of year to truly see how well your gardening skill have become. Ripe tomatoes are hard to obtain if pests are not kept under control. Picking corn too late can make for poor taste as well.
